The long, careful process of identifying, educating, examining, calling and ordaining ministers has as its goal ensuring that those who conduct public worship, administer the sacraments and preach are qualified to do so.

Our age exerts enormous egalitarian pressure on the church. These pressures, in combination with the ministry of every member described in Romans 12 and 1 Corinthians 12, have worked to obscure the distinctive call of the minister.
